Obituary: Services for Mr. Hershel Willard Meales, 67, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry McDivitt officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow at the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan with Bodkin Funeral Home will be in charge. Mr. Meales, a retired security guard for the Milan Army Ammunition Plan with thirty-eight years of service, died Friday afternoon at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Henderson County, February 8, 1924, son of the late Miles and Lee Byrd Meals, but had been living in Milan since 1949. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where he attended the Adult Men's Sunday School class. He was a member of the Milan Masonic Lodge No. 191 and the Milan Chapter of RAM No. 170. He was U.S. Marine veteran of World War II and was a member of the 5th Marine Division Association. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carlie Moore Meales of Milan; five daughters, Ms. Linda Brooks of Gibson, Mrs. Dianne Holt and Mrs. Rene Mayo, both of Milan, Mrs. Denice Fite and Miss Donna Jones, both of Jackson, Tennessee; two sons, Hershel Glenn...
Herschel Willard married Carlie MOORE, daughter of Jim Carl MOORE (1902-1975) & Erma BARR (1908-1971). Resided in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee in 1991.
