Family of John Bunyan MEALS (120) & Sallie J. CARNAL On 7 Jul 1944 when Martha Dee was 23, she married Earnest Maxwell THOMPSON. Born on 31 Oct 1914 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 82, Earnest Maxwell died on 21 Sep 1997. Buried in 1997 in Blair Cemetery, Clarksburg, 13th District, Carroll County, Tennessee. Earnest Maxwell retired from U.S. Army, State of Tennessee, and Ford Glass Plant, Nashville, Tennessee. Obituary: Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Ernest Maxwell (Max) Thompson, 86, of Nashville, formerly of Huntingdon, Tennessee, died on Sunday, September 21, 1997, of cancer. Graveside services with military honors were conducted on Tuesday, September 23, at 2:30 p.m. at Blair Cemetery near Clarksburg. Mr. Thompson was born on October 31, 1914. He was retired from Ford Glass Plant, the State of Tennessee, and the U.S. Army. He was former principal of Huntingdon High School, a member of of Brook Hollow Baptist Church in Nashville, Phoenix Lodge F&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, and Al Menah Shrine Temple, where he was a former member of the Legion of Honor and Oriental Band. He served as Past State Deputy Executive Office and State Director of membership for the Order of DeMolay. He was also a former Scoutmaster of Troop #244 and a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. He is survived by his wife, Martha Dee Meals Thompson; two sons, David Allan Thompson of Nashville and John Philip Thompson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two daughters-in-law, Mary Jane Batey Thompson and Angela Clark Thompson; and six grandchildren.
