Family of Pearl Ann MEALS (127) & William Albert RHODES Obituary: Josie Lee Leslie peacefully passed from this life on Sunday, December 12, 2004. She had fought a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born June 13, 1918, to Pearl Ann Meals and William Albert Rhodes, in Henderson County, TN. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, Joe Lewis Leslie. She leaves two children, Nancy Lou O’Brien of Searcy, AR and Albert Lewis Leslie of Conway, AR. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, Nancy’s family of marriage, and many friends. She loved everyone and enjoyed having company so much. Her sweet smile and loving concern will be missed by all. She was a lifetime member of Broad Street Church of Christ and in recent months, even though unable to attend services, she never missed listening to Sunday morning worship on the radio. Josie enjoyed very much being a homemaker. She was an excellent cook, and even on the day of her death, she was making plans for Christmas dinner. Her love for family was shown in being an organizer of the Rhodes reunion. She never missed, even this year, and always called relatives to invite them. Josie was a member of the Extension Homemakers for many years, and she still reminisced about all the good times she had in “the club”. Being active in the American Legion Auxiliary was also an important part of her life in earlier years. Retirement involvements she especially enjoyed were volunteering at the local hospital and the log cabin visitor’s center at Parker’s Cross Roads. For those wishing to make memorial contributions, the family requests those be made to the Broad Street Church of Christ building fund.
