Obituary: Obituary printed in Lexington Progress on Thursday, 12 July, 1962: Services for Mrs. Frona Coffman Utley were Sunday afternoon at the Bargerton Church of Christ with H.L. Bradfield of Memphis officiating. Burial was in the Waller-Douglas Cemetery with Pafford Funeral Home in Charge. Mrs. Utley, who was 85, died Sunday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Florence Miller of Juno. She was born and reared in Henderson County and was a member of the Juno Church of Christ. On 12 Jan 1899 when Sophronia Elizabeth was 22, she first married John Daniel PENDERGRASS, son of John Wesley PENDERGRASS (1839-1917) & Elizabeth Cerena KIRBY (1848-1890), in Henderson County, Tennessee. Born on 29 Nov 1874. At the age of 31, John Daniel died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 29 Nov 1905. Buried in 1905 in Palestine Cemetery, Carroll County, Tennessee. Cause of death: Pneumonia. Coffman, merchant at Bargerton, and Miss Esther, daughter of John Wash Fesmire, of the old 7th District, one of the best citizens of the West side of the County. The groom went from farming to merchandising, and has the name of being a hustler. The bride has inherited the genuine worth of her excellent parents to make her worth a fortune and we congratulate the groom on his extraordinary luck in securing her for his helpmate.
