Family of Opal WOOD (77) & Martin H. OLIVE Obituary: Services for Jo Helen Akins, age 71, will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2002 at Reed's Chapel in Lexington. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery in Wildersville. Mrs. Akins died Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Akins of Wildersville; mother, Opal Olive of Wildersville; two sons, Eddie Akins and wife, Lori of Lexington and Marty Akins of Wildersville; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Akins of Nashville and Lorrie Robyn Akins of Lexington. Pallbearers to serve will be Bobby Olive, James Wood, Dwight Blankenship, Todd Pulliam, Howell Clements, Phil Swindle, Mike Dickson, Robert Kizer and Gregg Akins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Wildersville Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Today from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. Jo Helen married Vernon AKINS. Born in 1930. At the age of 74, Vernon died in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee on 7 May 2004. Buried on 9 May 2004 in Jones Cemetery, Parkers Crossroads, Henderson County, Tennessee. Obituary: Funeral services for Vernon Akins, age 74, will be today, May 9 at 4:00 p.m. at Reed's Chapel with Eric Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery. Mr. Akins died Friday at the Jackson General Hospital. He was retired assistant director of the Tennessee Technology Center in Jackson, TN. He was a graduate of Bethel College and a veteran. He is survived by two sons, Eddie (Lori) Akins of Lexington and Marty (Ti) Akins of Wildersville; his mother-in-law, Opal Olive of Wildersville; one brother, Eugene Akins of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Delma Clements of Odum, GA and Alyce Swindell of Ludowici, GA; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Akins and Lorrie Robyn Akins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Helen Akins. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Wildersville Baptist Church, 140 Wildersville Church Rd., Wildersville, TN 38388 or the American Cancer Society.
