William Monroe Scott, Senior
10 January 1870 - 26 April 1954
William was the second eldest son of Henry
Clay Scott and
Durotha Isabelle Gulledge. He was born in Carroll County,
Tennessee and passed away in Old Hickory, Davidson County,
Tennessee. He first married Martha Candice Tosh on 18 Oct 1891.
Martha passed away on 18 Jan 1897. Their marriage produced one
son named Clarence Elihu Scott. On 27 Mar 1901, William married
Mary Frances Phillips, daughter of Benjamin Taylor Phillips and
Sarah Elizabeth Hampton. This union was blessed with three sons.
They were William Benjamin Scott, Dennie Clay Scott, and
William Monroe Scott, Junior. William and his two wives are buried in
Sellers Cemetery located near Clarksburg.
