Represented Madison and Henderson Counties in the forty-fifth General Assembly of the State of Tennessee in 1887. Hon. Jonathan D. Pearson is a North Carolinian, born January 10, 1831. His father, William Pearson, was born in the same State June 1, 1810, and in 1828 married Miss Eliza Williams, daughter of Dudley Williams, a farmer and native of North Carolina. Their union resulted in the birth of three sons and two daughters, our subject being the eldest of the family. In 1865 William Pearson moved to Madison County, where he followed farming, and died October 12, 1878. The mother was born in North Carolina, February 15, 1811, and died at the homestead, July 27, 1873. Jonathan D., our subject, was educated in the common schools and from boyhood has followed the occupation of farming. He was married in Fayette County, Tenn., December 18, 1851, to Rebecca C. Holland, daughter of William Holland, a native of North Carolina, who is now living above Little Rock, Ark. Mr. and Mrs. Pearson have eight children: Nannie E. (Mrs. Blackmon), William M., James C., Mary E. (Mrs. McCallum), John L., Seban W., Walter L. and Needham B. Mrs. Pearson was born in Carroll County, Tenn., December 30, 1833, and died July 27, 1885. After his marriage Mr. Pearson resided in Henderson County until 1867, when in company with his father he moved to his present home in Madison County. He has been magistrate of his district since 1872 and chairman of the county court over three years. He is now representing Henderson and Madison Counties in the Forty fifth General Assembly of the State. He is a Democrat and cast his first presidential vote for Gen. Scott. He is a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and is the owner of about 700 acres of land situated about twelve miles northeast of Jackson On 18 Dec 1851 when Jonathan Dudley was 20, he married Rebecca HOLLAND, daughter of William HOLLAND, in Fayette County, Tennessee. Born on 30 Dec 1833 in Carroll County, Tennessee. At the age of 51, Rebecca died in Madison County, Tennessee on 27 Jul 1885. Buried in 1885 in Brown Church Cemetery, Madison County, Tennessee. 15. John Solomon PEARSON. Born on 7 Sep 1833 in Anson County, North Carolina. At the age of 69, John Solomon died in Madison County, Tennessee on 18 Nov 1902. Buried in 1902 in Brown Church Cemetery, Madison County, Tennessee. Occupation: Farmer. John S. Pearson is a native of the old North State, and was born in 1833 to the marriage of William and Eliza (Williams) Pearson. In 1834 his parents came to Henderson County, Tenn., and remained there until 1865, when he came to Madison County and lived there until his death, in 1878, his worthy wife preceding him five years. The parents were both natives of North Carolina and were farmers, and to them were born seven children, four of whom reached years of maturity. John S. spent his youth at work on 'the farm, and has made farming his occupation through life, and has been quite successful. In 1858 he married Martha. J. Olive, of Henderson County, daughter of Howell Olive. This lady was born in 1841 and has presented her husband with four sons and four daughters, one of the latter being deceased. In 1865 Mr. Pearson moved to Madison County, locating on his present farm, which lies in the eastern part of the county and consists of 400 acres of well improved land. Mr. Pearson and wife are useful citizens, kind neighbors, and are members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Pearson is a stanch Democrat. On 3 Mar 1858 when John Solomon was 24, he married Martha Jane OLIVE, daughter of Howell OLIVE (1814-1888) & Ann LYON (1822-). Born on 26 Dec 1842 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 75, Martha Jane died in Madison County, Tennessee on 2 Oct 1918. Buried in 1918 in Brown Church Cemetery, Madison County, Tennessee. Religion: Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. They had the following children:
16. Susan Elizabeh PEARSON. Born on 12 Jan 1847 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 69, Susan Elizabeth died in Madison County, Tennessee on 8 Jan 1917. Buried in Jan 1917 in Brown's Church Cemetery, Madison County, Tennessee. Resided in 17th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1850. On 3 Nov 1868 when Susan Elizabeth was 21, she married John George WOOLFOLK, son of Doctor Vivian Broadus WOOLFOLK & Mary Gregory SUTHERLAND, in Madison County, Tennessee. Born on 28 Jun 1845 in Tennessee. At the age of 60, John George died in Madison County, Tennessee on 24 Feb 1906. Buried in Feb 1906 in Brown's Church Cemetery, Madison County, Tennessee. They had the following children:
