Family of Robinson Crusoe MEALS (37) & Katherine LANSFORD

98. Oscar Frederick MEALS. Born on 11 Jul 1884 in Keene, Texas. Occupation: Worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for over 50 years.

Oscar, like a lot of men who lived in Cleburne, worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for nearly 50 years; first as a section labor (track repairman), then water service, switchman and last as a clerk in an office. His son, Raymond, worked with his father at the railroad during World War II. However, he finally went to work for the Santa Fe in April 1937 and retired in 1976. While Oscar was a switchman, he got the heel of his left foot mashed off; which stayed sore from 1911 until 1952. He was finally operated on by surgeons at the Mayo Clinic and it finally healed.

Oscar Frederick married LIA.

They had the following children:
i. Clarence B.. Born in 1906.

ii. Ruby. Born in 1908.
