Family of Elizabeth E. MORROW (4) & John Marshall MEALS Obituary: Mrs. Amanda J. Pearson, aged 81 years, daughter of the late John Meals, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.H. Rogers, Tahlequa, Oklahoma, May 10th, having been a semi-invalid since about two years ago when she fell and broke her hip, but illness immediately preceding her death was only about a week. Mrs. Pearson moved from Henderson County about 20 years ago, having been a widow for forty-four years, her husband [James Nathan Pearson] died June 15, 1887. She went West to live with her son, Dr. Leb Pearson about 20 years ago. She is survived by five children, Mrs. F.M. Davis, Lexington; COL John A. Pearson and attorney A.E. Pearson, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Dr. L.E. Pearson, Mangum, Oklahoma, and Mrs. F.H. Rogers, in whose home shed died. Her remains were interred in Oklahoma City Cemetery. She was a member of the Christian Church. Mrs. F.M. Davis, having many cares at her home and having recently spent some time with her mother, was not called to her funeral. In 1871 when Amanda Jane was 22, she married James Nathan PEARSON, son of Peter PEARSON Senior (1814-1887) & Mary Ann PRITCHARD (1820-1866), in Henderson County, Tennessee. Born on 25 Mar 1845 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 42, James Nathan died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 15 Jun 1887. Buried in 1887 in Pearson Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. James Nathan served in Company G, 7th Cavalry Regiment (Tennessee), United States Army, during the American Civil War. Resided in 10th District, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in 10th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1860. They had the following children:
18. Frances Paralee MEALS. Born on 19 Aug 1849. At the age of 77, Frances Paralee died in Gibson County, Tennessee on 11 Oct 1926. Buried in 1926 in White Rose Cemetery, Gibson, Tennessee. Died near Gibson, Gibson County, Tennessee. Had eight daughters. On 8 Feb 1865 when Frances Paralee was 15, she married James Benjamin WILLIAMS, in Henderson County, Tennessee. Born on 19 Jul 1840 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 53, James Benjamin died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 1 May 1894. Buried in 1894 in White Rose Cemetery, Gibson County, Tennessee. They had the following children:
19. Louvisa Ann MEALS. Born on 4 Jan 1852. At the age of 28, Louvisa Ann died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 14 Apr 1880. Buried in 1880 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Louvisa Ann married Madison Hartwell MILAM, son of James Henderson MILAM (1819-1901) & Catherine D. WILLIAMS (1827-1879). Born on 1 Oct 1847 in Henderson County, Tennessee. At the age of 69, Madison Hartwell died in Henderson County, Tennessee on 22 Jul 1917. Buried in 1917 in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Henderson County, Tennessee. Resided in 1st District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1860. Resided in 19th District, Henderson County, Tennessee in 1870. Alias/AKA: "Hart". Obituary: Found Dead in Bed: Last Sunday morning, Esq. M. Hart Milam, one of the known former citizens of the west side of the county, was found dead on his bed at his home in the old Second District about ten miles west of Lexington, at the age of 70 years, 9 months, and 21 days. Mrs. Milam had gotten up about midnight to frighten away a dog and so far as known at that time Mr. Milam had shown no signs of illness. Sunday morning Mrs. Milam called her husband and in receiving no reply, laid her hand on his face and found it cold, which led to the discovery that he was dead with his feet hanging off the bed. The conclusion was reached that Esq. Milam was stricken with heart failure at some time between midnight and daylight. Esq. Milam is survived by his second wife and besides her children, Elmer,Edgar, Luther, and Sam, Jim, Ethel (Mrs. Luther Giles) and Miss Beulah (the first three sons being married), there survive him three of his first set of children, namely, Dr. R.H. Milam of Chesterfield, Mellie (Mrs. Ike Fesmire) and Flora (Mrs. E.L. Fesmire), also of this county. Esq. Milam was a lifelong Methodist (Southern) Democrat and a member of the Masonic fraternity. His remains were interred Sunday in the old family burying ground in the old 7th district, Rev. Teague officiating the funeral. "Hart" Milam, as he was called, was a good citizen, a man who loved his family and friends, his party, his church and the fraternal order to which he belonged. He will be missed in the community in which he lived and his children will honor his memory as it deserves to be honored. He was buried with Masonic honors, C.A. Robbs of Constantine Lodge officiating. They had the following children:
